Useful information for your visit

Since opening in 2019 The Barn has blossomed into a popular and busy destination for all. We are proud to offer a fantastic selection of breakfast and lunch choices in our Tearoom.  We have a children’s menu, daily specials, and takeaway options available. Many of the ingredients used in the kitchen are grown on-site by participants, but please be aware:

We are unable to supply completely “Free From” items baked fresh in our kitchen as we use nut, gluten and sulphite products, within an open-plan  environment

We have limited supplies of bought in items such as bread, rolls and biscuits but we do not guarantee that they are Free From as cross contamination can always occur.

Please inform staff immediately of any allergies, intolerances or lifestyle choices and prior to ordering.

We are a zero waste charity and may give smaller portions of jam, butter, milk etc than you are perhaps used to. Please be assured you can ask for more at any time should you require it.  We avoid the use of excess disposables and use mixed-source crockery to reduce both landfill and detergent use.

You can enjoy your food and drink from The Barn inside in our fully accessible, bright, and airy Tearoom, or outside on the Patio beside our orchards, or even within the Courtyard.

Most areas including the Tearoom are dog friendly, but please note that no dogs are allowed in the Gift Shop – the potential for breakages from enthusiastic tail wagging is unfortunately rather high!  Please use the clearly marked side entrance when in the company of dogs.

In keeping with CCI ethos, participants and volunteers are actively involved in the day to day running of the Tea Room and Gift Shop, gaining valuable experience and often the opportunity to progress to a paid role either in the community or within the charity.

Clydesdale Community Initiatives is a registered charity and Social Enterprise providing opportunities for individuals experiencing exclusion to make a tangible contribution to their communities. Our Tea Room and Gift Shop help fund our ongoing programmes, and we greatly appreciate your support.

Participant Testimony - How our participants view their time in the Tearoom.

“Here there is more understanding that you might feel nervous taking customers’ orders. You’re not rushed into it.”
“I’m not very good at asking. In an ordinary job it would be too much trial and error. I might get into trouble for getting things wrong.”
“I don’t want to be in an ordinary café. You guys are more open. You step in if I’m finding it too hard.”
“I don’t get worried going into work.”
“As of right now I don’t want to be anywhere else but here.”
